Agency OverviewWorkOne NorthwestWorkOne Northwest consists of Four Service Centers providing Employment and Training Services for Workers, Students and Employers in Northwest Indiana. In the past it was necessary to visit multiple agencies in various locations to get the Employment and Training Services you need. Now all of these services are provided at each of our convenient locations in Hammond, Gary, East Chicago and Crown Point.

Workforce Development ServicesWorkforce Development Services (WDS)is a nonprofit agency that works in conjunction with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. As the administrative entity which provides employment and training services at the WorkOne Centers, our mission is to help area job seekers to get the skills they need to get good jobs in the ever-changing labor market in Northwest Indiana. The primary funding source for WDS is the Department of Labor's Workforce Investment Act (WIA). WDS programs are designed to assist in meeting the training and employment needs of workers and employers. WDS Administrative Office is located at 840 Broadway, Gary, IN 46402, (219) 882-0033. Administration is home to our Executive Director, Operations Director/EEOC Officer, Planning, Monitoring, Fiscal and MIS Departments. We operate four WorkOne and WorkOne Express Centers located throughout Lake County Indiana.The Gary and Hammond offices are WorkOne Centers, which include the Job Service and Unemployment Insurance programs, an Information Resource Area, Discovery Lab and access to a wide range of programs and services through direct personal contact or by referral. WDS, the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, and Vocational Rehabilitation work together to operate the One-Stops. East Chicago and Crown Point Centers are One Stop Express Centers which provide all the services except Unemployment Insurance registration. All job seekers are eligible for services, which begin with the Customer Self Service System (CS3) for work registration, assessment, local job market information, job referral and placement. For those who are unable to find employment through these services, more intensive services and training are available. Other eligibility requirements may apply. 882-0033 Training and Service Providers Training and Services are either provided in our centers, by partner agencies or through local colleges, universities, training providers and agencies.
