Helping Others

Home > Youth

Programs throughout the school year and during the summer, help youth try new skills and develop their interests. They are given the opportunity to learn about careers through hands on experience in a highly supervised and safe work environments with area agencies and schools. At the same time, they are learning to see the connection between the skills they learn in the classroom and the skills they need on the job.

WorkOne Youth Programs serve Youth from ages 12 to 22, both in and out of school. Through services provided in our centers and by special contracts with agencies that serve youth, they are guided through the transition from childhood to successful adult. Youth who are doing poorly in school and who are at risk of dropping out are helped to improve their grades, and pass the ISTEP+ through the Discovery Lab to complete High School or obtain a GED.

By working together in programs which provide services to others, youth learn teamwork, social skills and empathy for others needs. By supervising younger youth, they learn to be leaders, to set goals and to plan activities. Leadership is an important skill emphasized through our Rising Stars Youth Leadership Program which helps youth set goals, make decisions, build communication skills and self-confedence.
